I wasn’t sure exactly what that meant 13 years ago when I journeyed to Canada to meet the most extraordinary visionaries, practitioners, and mentors in the world of person-centered philosophy and teachings. I was blown away. I took what I learned and started putting it into practice in Massachusetts, then after years of practice working with hundreds of families, I was called to California, then Wisconsin, then New York…and over the past several years I have taken my experiences and combined them with my own journey as a Mom to develop this training program. I love to teach what I’ve learned, I love to learn from others and I love watching my students go on their own journeys of discovery and change lives of those we love with disabilities. So let’s do this!
This 2 ½ day training involves learning the philosophies and practices of person-centered planning, focusing on MAPS and PATHS methodologies and the processes I created for my practice. There are a number of approaches to person-centered planning; this is the one I have found to be the most thorough, meaningful and respectful to people seeking direction for their futures.
The training will provide you with the skills, understanding and tools you need if you decide to develop your own professional planning business OR if you decide to use your knowledge to support others.
There’s a whole lot of things that this is NOT – that may sound like an odd way to promote something, but it’s really important that you understand what this is.
So if you are ready to learn and can commit to understanding what it means to be a facilitator, I invite you to join this training!
BEFORE YOU COMMIT, CONSIDER THESE IMPORTANT FACTORS:
- There is no professional “licensure” or “certification” for this training; it does not fulfill any CEU’s (but I am willing to fill out an application to see if your employer will qualify it for CEU’s upon request). Each participant will receive a “certificate of completion” of the training as long as they have attended the entire training.
- Participants are expected to attend the entire training: Friday from 1pm-4pm, Saturday and Sunday from 9am-4pm. No partial participation will be allowed. Your commitment to this is extremely important. Each day provides key components of proper facilitation and builds on the learning from the previous days.
- Payment must be made in full by one week before day 1 of training before your spot will be reserved, and there will be no refunds after 2 days prior to day 1.
- The cost of the training is $400 per person plus $50 for books and materials; a total of $450. There are no household discounts. There are no scholarships available.
